Event-Based Revenue Recognition automates revenue recognition for sales orders, supporting simplified period-end-closing. For goods issue of delivery, revenue is calculated based on the delivered quantity. Accrued revenue is posted against realized revenue, which matches the cost of goods sold of the goods issue posting. Based on the parallel posting of costs and revenues, sales order margins are immediately available. If necessary, period-end closing corrects real-time revenue recognition postings.
